Design branding & all relevant deliverables for a spiritual festival. I chose this brief as any spiritual festival designs I've seen have been too visually chaotic, I wanted to create something different.
RESEARCH
Festival design
My initial idea was to create a celestial themed festival and focus on healing and spirituality. I researched festivals so that I could get an idea of branding, colours used and deliverables. I loved the use of bold colour and pattern here.
Spiritual / celestial / boho branding
I researched products as I looked at spiritual festivals and couldn't find one that I liked, so wanted to draw inspiration from elsewhere. I loved how simplistic these designs were & also how expressive the typography was.
Esoterica
After playing about with initial designs etc I wasn't a fan of what I'd created so far. I thought it might be interesting to go down the route of a more esoteric / psychedelic route, so I did some research into this. I found the use of pattern and texture really cool, although a little overwhelming at times.
initial ideas
I drew out some ideas for the festival, some icons to use, and some typography to get me started for the logo - focusing on spiritual / wellbeing icons.
DEVELOPMENT / Initial digital ideas
Typography / logo
I hand drew a logo and edited it digitally. The C is designed to look like a crescent moon & the typography takes inspiration from 70's / 80's type.
Posters
I tried a few different designs to see what would work best but didn't end up being happy with any of them.
Further development
I found a cool typeface and wanted to try it out, so went down a bit of a different direction, which I suppose fit the psychedelic theme.
I then decided on another typeface, and played about with this for a bit. This was my chosen typeface, and I knew I definitely wanted to use black, white, & blue.
Design developments
Final designs
Flow - a one day experimental experience, designed to create an altered sense of perception through a psychedelic sound landscape. The gathering is designed to be purposefully secretive, and to intrigue the target audience through mysterious marketing. Guests will receive keepsakes as part of the experience, such as a record containing music from the event. Other keepsakes will be useful during the experience, but be able to be used afterwards for example journals to write down thoughts experienced during flow, and a re-useable water bottle. I feel the end result ended up being somewhere between psychedelic and spiritual and I'm happy with this.
