2D Project brief

Design a logo for a band, utilising different techniques and styles.
I was given the band name 'The Peppermint Agenda'.

First impressions of this band name made me think of soft alt rock / indie rock so I started doing some research into this area.
I will research more areas of music, and play about with different designs, but initially this is the genre that is standing out for me.

I looked at these design agencies because they are known for designing band logos.

INITIAL IDEAS

Firstly, I looked at some very obvious mint designs, but I didn't like that the ideas looked too festive.
It also felt a little basic and boring, so I decided to explore some other avenues.

DEVELOPMENT

This idea of a nymph came from researching the history of peppermint.
The legend goes that that Hades (the god of the underworld) was having an affair with a nymph named Minthe. When Hades' wife discovered his infidelity, she turned Minthe into a 'common' plant, that was constantly under foot. Hades lessened the curse by transforming Minthe into a peppermint plant.

Whilst printing I wondered about how many logos / items are actually printed, or created using methods other than computer software, when at first glance it would appear they are digitally created... probably more than we realise.

& a cool picture which provided some inspiration.
I saw this when I was thinking of ideas, and it looked very much like a peppermint sweet.
This design feels very soft rock like to me, but would definitely also work as an indie band logo.
